I have heard and I have sung Amazing Grace many, many times — but until recently I have never really thought about what the title of the song means. In other words, what is so amazing about grace? But what do we mean by Grace in a Christian context? How, for example, is the word used in the Bible? Well — the answer is that Grace is another word for LOVE … but not just any kind of love, rather, an unconditional, unearned, and even undeserved Love. We naturally base almost everything in human culture on achievement, on performance, on accomplishment, or on worthiness of some sort.

The president offered thoughtful reflections on institutional racism, gun control, and the epidemic of mass shootings in America. Of course, if you are a follower of Jesus Christ, you know more than that about grace: you know that God forgave your sins when that was the last thing you deserved, that God has welcomed you into his family, made you his friend, taken you into his confidence about his plans for the world, encourages you to be his apprentice in turning the world right side up.

Scripture: Titus How amazing is this grace that saved a wretch like me? What exactly is grace, what has it done for me, and what should my response be to it? Grace is used in the original Greek language to convey the idea of a free gift. When a person competes with an opponent and receives a trophy for his performance, that is a prize. When a person receives appropriate recognition for his long service or high achievements, that is an award.

What's So Amazing About Grace? The book examines grace in Christianity , contending that people crave grace and that it is central to the gospel , but that many local churches ignore grace and instead seek to exterminate immorality.
