Emotions can be difficult. For adults, absolutely, but even more so for children. How are they supposed to express the hard ones like grief, anger, or sadness without the language to describe them? Creating a foundation of emotional intelligence has been a goal of mine since before my children were born. Thankfully, there are some great works out there that make the murky waters of raising emotionally literate people a little more clear.
Kids come with a full spectrum of emotions, some of which are too big to keep inside. Every child handles feelings differently, but learning to deal with them is an important part of growing up. Here are some of my favorite books for helping kids manage their emotions. How do you cheer up a grump?
