I always envision summer as this super relaxing time where I lay by the pool and read books.

I love a good book. So much so that my Amazon wish list is just one long, ever-growing list of books…. Books have a profound impact on my teaching practice. They connect me with important ideas and prominent leaders from across the education landscape. They give me food for thought, inspiration, conviction, challenge, new ideas, and words to describe my experiences. One of my goals for is to continue to grow my practice through reflective reading.

Math Help and Assistance

For a number of years I have been studying a novel with my students in my Pre-Algebra classes. I was featured on NewsChannel5 for my work tying in literature and mathematics! Below are a collection of books that I think would be fabulous additions to any mathematics curriculum.

It was a dark and stormy night; Meg Murry, her small brother Charles Wallace, and her mother had come down to the kitchen for a midnight snack when they were upset by the arrival of a most disturbing stranger. A Wrinkle in Time, is the story of the adventures in space and time of Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin O'Keefe athlete, student, and one of the most popular boys in high school. They are in search of Meg's father, a scientist who disappeared while engaged in secret work for the government on the tesseract problem. And when it comes to girls named Katherine, Colin is always getting dumped. Nineteen times, to be exact.
