Golden Girls Read A Thon: Read a book that includes female friendships
When I was 13 years old 10 Things I Hate About You was my favorite movie. I think I saw it in the theater at least 3x. I loved it! This movie was the first time I ever saw Heath Ledger and it was love at first sight. I was also still nursing my crush on Andrew Keegan(what ever happened to him) and I thought Julia Stiles was the coolest. Im tempted to rewatch the movie but I fear I wont enjoy it as much as an adult.
If Im being honest this book is probably a 2 star read but my nostalgia for the movie caused me to up the rating. 10 Things I Hate About You is a retelling of William Shakespeares The Taming Of The Shrew. Bianca the most popular sophomore at Padua High wants to date but cant until her older sister Kat does and Kat has no interest in dating or parties. So Cameron one of the 2 boys vying for Bianca comes up with a plan to get Kat to go out with school bad boy Patrick.
Despite the condensed and rushed nature of the book it did make me want to watch the movie again. If for no other reason than to see a young Heath Ledger.
10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU
Bianca Larisa Oleynik , sweet, simple, popular and desperate to date; Kat Julia Stiles , antisocial, antiestablishment, antiauthoritarian, and determined to avoid the opposite sex. A well done film. Rightly so. There is quite a bit of inuendo throughout the movie, most of which a Christian audience will find unnecessary. Furthermore, Dr. This movie also touches the hard topic of teenage alcohol and drug abuse.
In Theaters. Coming Soon. Best of Netflix. Best of Amazon. Generally favorable reviews based on 26 Critics.
The war between men and women is nothing new, witness The Taming of the Shrew: The archaic language can't conceal a story as pertinent as anything written today and twice as sharp. This teen-oriented gloss on Shakespeare's tale is cute and occasionally quite funny, but it's undermined by slack direction: Far too many scenes are allowed to play way longer This teen-oriented gloss on Shakespeare's tale is cute and occasionally quite funny, but it's undermined by slack direction: Far too many scenes are allowed to play way longer than they should, and Gil Junger's TV roots are revealed in his excessive reliance on close-ups and the cast's preponderance of TV actors. Whip-smart, aggressively disagreeable senior Kat Julia Stiles , whose tense, teen queen face fairly screams "bite me," is the terror of Padua High, a Tasmanian Devil of contrary opinions, acerbic put downs and antisocial attitudes. The sticking point is that their dad Larry Miller is terrified his daughters will become teen pregnancy statistics -- especially boy-magnet Bianca -- and has hit upon a novel way to. Since Kat has her male classmates cowering, Bianca's virtue appears unassailable.
Engaging but edgy update of Taming of the Shrew. Read Common Sense Media's 10 Things I Hate About You review, age rating, and parents guide.
