Jane Austens First Love by Syrie James

4.5 Stars

I havent read that many romance novels as of late, but it was so refreshing to read this historical fiction of Jane Austen and her first love, Edward Taylor. With Austens love of life and adventurous side, this book wasnt smothered in romance but quirky and fun in addition to the excitement of courtship in the late 1700s.

This novel was written very well and although I received this book through Netgalley, I will more than likely buy the audiobook just to get swept away again with those lovely British accents of this time period. I highly recommend this book, especially for those who love Jane Austen novels.

December 15, at am. She rose early, getting up to practice the piano without disturbing her mother, her sister and her best friend, Martha Lloyd, who lived with them. Her piano would have had the soft tones of the Clementi one now housed in the museum. Mrs Austen had the largest, sunniest bedroom. Theirs has a view of the garden and of outbuildings where swallows still nest. The sisters would have had a fire in their room, unlike poor Fanny Price at Mansfield Park.
