Camino Island by John GrishamA gang of thieves stage a daring heist from a secure vault deep below Princeton University’s Firestone Library. Their loot is priceless, but Princeton has insured it for twenty-five million dollars.
Bruce Cable owns a popular bookstore in the sleepy resort town of Santa Rosa on Camino Island in Florida. He makes his real money, though, as a prominent dealer in rare books. Very few people know that he occasionally dabbles in the black market of stolen books and manuscripts.
Mercer Mann is a young novelist with a severe case of writer’s block who has recently been laid off from her teaching position. She is approached by an elegant, mysterious woman working for an even more mysterious company. A generous offer of money convinces Mercer to go undercover and infiltrate Bruce Cable’s circle of literary friends, ideally getting close enough to him to learn his secrets.
But eventually Mercer learns far too much, and there’s trouble in paradise as only John Grisham can deliver it.
John Grisham Books: What Reading Order Is Best?
In fact, his fans delight in recounting decidedly low-tech tales of the young author peddling copies of his first book, "A Time to Kill," everywhere he went. That first novel and the personal hand-selling of it have become a part of publishing lore. Since then, the digital era reared its head, and any of the twenty-odd Grisham novels that followed "A Time to Kill" were much more likely to be downloaded than bought direct. Grisham became a perennial best-seller, sold books by the millions, and has been translated into forty languages. More: John Grisham doing 1st big book tour in 25 years.
I like his legal stories more. Even though A Painted House is fantastic, some of his others were not quite as interesting sorry John if you are reading this! Thanks for a Great Read John Grisham! I have read and own every book John Grisham has ever written. He is one of the best authors I have ever read even though I like others.
Rare book collectors, take note. The first print run of Grisham's debut A Time to Kill had only 5,, cheaply manufactured copies, many of which have not held up to the wear and tear of nearly 30 years on the market.
