After henry radio series download
After Henry by Simon BrettOne of the funniest books I have read. I remember staying in the car after getting home from the station after work so that I would not miss the last hilarious five minutes of the radio version when it was being broadcast. Who would have thought you could extract so much humour from the priceless interplay between three generations of the same family? The book follows the middle-class lives of three women - except that one of them feels like pig-in-the-middle. Although Sarah has been left well provided for by her late husband, a doctor called Henry, she is also been left a demanding mother living upstairs, and an adolescent daughter downstairs who craves independence. The only person she can unburden her troubles to is a mildly amused and understanding gay bookshop owner where she works part-time. For those of you who may have missed the series take heart. I understand from Simon Brett that he is getting together a stage version that should be taking shape later on this year.

Culture and generation-clash comedy in which middle-aged widow Sarah lives with her elderly, difficult mother Eleanor, and daughter Clare. Sarah is 42 and has already been widowed for a little over two years, since Henry's tragic death in a car crash. Having moved from London to a medium-sized town in the country with her late husband, doctor Henry France, she's now left alone, coping with their daughter, Clare, and her mother, Eleanor, between whom she is regularly torn! Clare, only just 18, is fast becoming an adult, discovering the world, and finding both herself and her responsibilities. Sarah herself is struggling to get used to the unwanted freedom that Henry's death has thrust upon her; and her elderly mother, somewhere in her mids, is as interfering, oblivious and cantankerous as ever. Caught between the two extremes, Sarah struggles - with the help and advice of her gay best friend and employer, small bookshop owner Russell - with parenting, life as a single woman, but above all else: not turning into her mother!
