Marley a dog like no other pictures
Marley: A Dog Like No Other: A Special Adaptation for Young Readers by John GroganStill trying to figure out how to read the last two chapters to Samuel (5-years-old).
Update: We did it! We read the whole thing together! In Chapter 20, Beating the Odds, I left out only a few details, and then we had a conversation about some pretty advanced issues for a 5-year-old, and he really seemed to process very well. It was a while before we read another chapter, but when we got back to it, I didnt leave anything else out, and we finished the book. . . including Marleys death. Samuel was not upset at all. He had had plenty of time to digest that Marley would die in the story, and he seemed to understand that dogs do not live as long as people, which was reiterated by the narrator to his own children. He loved the book so much that he hugged me at the end and gushed about how much he loved it. Then, after I heard him planning with Aunt Annie to go see the movie, I also realized that he is very aware that Marley was a real dog and that the dog in the movie will be an actor dog. Im so proud of my sharp, sensitive little guy.

Marley: A Dog Like No Other: A Special Adaptation for Young Readers
Marley, a lovable Labrador retriever, is always getting himself into trouble. Some may say he is the world's worst dog. But those who know and love Marley understand that nothing can stop his loyalty, exuberance, and passion—not even the Grogans' screen door! How this big, rambunctious dog becomes the heart of the Grogan family is the story of Marley. When I was ten years old, my father caved in to my pleas and took me to get my own dog. Together we drove in the family station wagon far into the Michigan countryside. We stopped at a farm run by a woman and her ancient mother.
