Temple of Elemental Evil - Session 1: Arrival in Hommlet
Review: T1-4 Temple of Elemental Evil (1e)
I played through T1 and remember waiting and waiting for the next module, before this one dropped years later. A couple cases in point. The moat-house, for low-level characters, has a giant snake…poison save VS death. In the Temple dungeons, another snake, an incident with dust of choking and sneezing save or die and a banshee save or flee in fear, save or die vs the wail. Second, this module is BIG! Considering the levels at which the players start, you will be keeping track a time a LOT as DM, the players frequently needing to rest, heal, even return to Hommlet for new gear, level training, etc.
The module was published by TSR, Inc. Reid novel and an Atari computer game, and the term is used by fans of the setting to refer to the fictional Temple itself. In the module T1 The Village of Hommlet , the player characters must defeat the raiders in a nearby fort, and thereafter Hommlet can be used as a base for the party's subsequent adventures. The adventurers travel through Hommlet and are drawn into a web of conspiracy and deception. The module is recommended for first-level characters, who begin the adventure "weary, weak, and practically void of money".
